Courses and Experience Days

Courses
Autumn 2021

Income generated from our courses and experience days goes towards funding our core work with families, children and adults.

Fungi Foray

11.00am to 2.30pm
Price: £25 per adult; £8 per child
Location: Young Wood

A chance to learn more about wild mushrooms in the woods - their ecology, classification, those you can eat, and those you certainly can't. You will learn about taking ways of identifying, how make spore prints, the deadly poisons, the easy-to-confuse and ideas for some good books that you may want to buy later. This session is only suitable for older children (8+) who can listen and learn along with the adults; there are not child-specific activities.
If there are any we can collect we will, although most we will find in the woods will not be edibles.
Led by expert mycologist Dr David Allen. David has been leading these walks in the woods every year for some time and really knows his stuff.
NB This is NOT a forage for mushrooms to take home!
