Woodland Family Sessions - for children with a disability

Thanks to the Somerset County Council Inclusion Team, we are offering very subsidised sessions in the holidays for Somerset families who have a child with a disability. That may be visible or diagnosed condition or impairment, or it may be hidden or hard to see. We think our sessions are most suitable for children aged 5-12 and their families and siblings. Being outdoors is especially good for those children who.... love to be outdoors! Those who like to explore, find their own way, make a mess, build things, be part of a gang, or alone. We will do our best to facilitate the play that is wanted - and sometimes that just means we get out of the way. We will (try) and start the session together, all around the campfire. Then we will explore a little - there is so much space! to build dens, eat our packed lunches, make something on the campfire together, maybe make a craft or something to take home or just play. We finish all together around the campfire, and say thank you and goodbye. Our team is a mix of staff and volunteers, all DBS checked and who love the outdoors. They also make good tea and can find the best bugs or can help you find a book or guide to know the name of what you have found. When you book, it will help us learn more about your likes and dislikes, as well as your abilities/disabilities. Our main camp area is fairly level, and it works ok for wheelchair users if they can manage on woodchip / soft ground. We have an all-ability compost loo.
