Young Wood lies two miles to the south of Taunton, in the hamlet of Badger Street, near the village of Staple Fitzpaine. Our nearest postcode is TA3 5AZ. When you get close, look for a 'Neroche Woodlanders' sign on the roadside, and turn into the field entrance there. WE STRONGLY SUGGEST THAT YOU DO NOT USE GOOGLE DIRECTIONS OR SATNAVS. Please note that although Young Wood is part of the Public Forest, and hence open to walking access, the track and carpark are not for public use. Neroche Woodlanders' camp and structures are not freely accessible outside of dates when events are taking place. Detailed directions: (downloadable here) From Taunton, leave the town via South Road and take the B3170 towards Corfe. Just before Taunton Racecourse take the left turning signposted to Orchard Portman and Staple Fitzpaine. Follow this road for just over a mile, and just after entering the hamlet of Winter Well, look out for a field entrance on the right hand side. On the day of events there will be a sign on the roadside at this entrance. From the east (Langport side): come via the A358 and take the turning to Staple Fitzpaine. When you reach the village crossroads turn right, with the Greyhound Inn immediately on your right, and continue for half a mile. When you come into the hamlet of Winter Well and Badger Street, look for a field entrance on the left. On the day of events there will be a sign on the roadside at this entrance. |

Taunton station to Young Wood is about 10-15 minute taxi ride. Otherwise Honiton is about 35 minute taxi-ride. |
From the south (Chard direction): come via the ridge road along the top of the Blackdown Hills and take the turning just west of Castle Neroche, down the hill signposted to Staple Fitzpaine. Come straight through the village, passing the Greyhound pub on your right. Follow the road around a sharp left hand bend. When you come into the hamlet of Winter Well and Badger Street, look for a field entrance on the left. On the day of events there will be a sign on the roadside at this entrance.
From the west (Exeter/Honiton direction): take the B3170 and then turn right at the cross road signed Staple Fitzpaine and Chard.
